Welcome!
I'm Robert Mehling, an artist from the east end of Long Island. I paint representations of autonomous things that only
indirectly reference people. I try to capture in paint the unique personalities of the things and scenes I depict. My art,
being a combination of tradition and progression, may be more hybrid than classical realist. See what you think. You can find

I spend a lot of time looking at things. If you look at familiar things and surroundings for a long time, they begin to appear
curiously strange and unfamiliar. You just see forms and shapes. It's the same thing that happens if you repeat a familiar
word over and over - you forget what it means and only hear its sound.
